Bruins not interested in Burke?
With reports suggesting that the Bruins will pursue Brian Burke in the coming weeks, executive VP Charlie Jacobs told the Boston Globe that likely won't be the case.
Burke, the former Anaheim Ducks GM, will be available to speak with other teams later this month.
"I find it necessary to state on the record," Jacobs told the Globe via email, "that Bruins ownership is quite happy with our current senior management team of Peter [Chiarelli], Jim [ Benning], Cam [ Neely], and Don [ Sweeney]. We have no plans to expand our front office at this time.
"We believe the current leadership has provided Bruins fans with a promising young team and one that is going to bring us continued success."
Burke is expected to join the Toronto Maple Leafs as their president and GM, although the Atlanta Thrashers, Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators and Chicago Blackhawks are all rumored to be interested.
