Default Roberto Luongo wearing the 'C'

Roberto Luongo #1
Position: Goaltender Catches: Left
Height: 6' 3" Weight: 205
Born: 04 Apr '79 (Age 29) Phonetic: loo-WAHN-goh
Born in: Montreal, QC, Canada
VAN Season: 2nd NHL Season: 8th
Drafted: NY Islanders' 1st round choice, 4th overall iin 1997
Acquired: From Florida with Lukas Krajicek and a sixth round draft pick in 2006 in exchange for Bryan Allen, Alex Auld, Todd Bertuzzi, June 23, 2006

Well Luongo has now gone 201 minutes and eight seconds without allowing a goal. Impressive to say the least. I actually was down on Luongo so far this year.

This just in ... this Luongo guy is pretty good.

Captain Luongo’s 3rd straight shutout, the 2nd consecutive year he has done that, was his 5th of the year in 14 starts. He’s now got 16 as a Canuck and is only 4 away from the Franchise record.
Now all that talk about him wearing th 'C' maybe not such a bad call after all.

I don't know where he was early in the season ... but three shutouts in the last five games, 4 shutouts in thew last 6 games, seems to indicate he has found his groove. With Brodeur gone until March it could be a good chance for Luongo to become the top goalie in the NHL.

It just might not be true that suggesting the pressures of the job would weigh too heavily on a goalie’s mind and might blunt the mental focus. Lou is taking the challenge and accelling.

He has turned out a performance, which earned him recognition as NHL First Star this week. I think he is deserving of wearing the 'C'.

Don't know if any other goalie would make a good captain, except Marty Brodeur.
