EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jim Matheson reports the following:

- "It's no secret why Anaheim Ducks general manager Brian Burke wants Mats Sundin", noting Brendan Morrison isn't getting the job done as their second line center. Matheson suggests waiving Morrison and Todd Marchant or trading Bobby Ryan to afford Sundin.



NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks reports the following:

- The Toronto Maple Leafs are attempting to trade defenseman Jeff Finger, whom they signed last summer to a four-year, $14 million contract.


- "For those people who say, "Lou would never do that," when the possibility is raised of Lamoriello trading for Nikolai Khabibulin in the wake of the potentially shattering elbow injury to Martin Brodeur, they should never forget this: Lou would do anything."



CBC.CA: During Saturday's "Satellite Hotstove" segment on Hockey Night in Canada Al Strachan reported the Thrashers were shopping Kari Lehtonen and also claimed the NY Islanders were shopping Mike Comrie but currently there's no market for him.


- Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis once again denied Mattias Ohlund was on the trade block. Garrioch noted Ohlund's "no-trade" clause but believed the blueliner will be dealt if his contract talks with Gillis remain stalled.


- The Minnesota Wild could be stuck with Marian Gaborik for a while, as his current injury has affected his market value. Garrioch cites a "league executive" suggesting the Wild might not be able to move Gaborik until the March trade deadline.


ESPN.COM: Pierre Lebrun reports contract talks between Henrik Zetterberg and the Detroit Red Wings are heating up. Zetterberg could command between $9 -$10 million per season but Lebrun believes he'll have to accept less to stay in Detroit, suggesting $7-$8 million per is the sweet spot.


DENVER POST: Adrian Dater reports the Colorado Avalanche are shopping defenseman Brett Clark, and claims one rumor he's heard kicking around is Clark to Montreal for goalie Jaroslav Halak, who'll likely be buried behind Carey Price.


ST. PETERBURG TIMES: Damian Cristodero reports Tampa Bay Lightning GM Brian Lawton said no other trades are imminent in the wake of his dealing Matt Carle to Philadelphia on Friday. The Lightning also demoted winger Jason Ward to the minors. The two moves clear nearly $3 million in cap space for the Lightning.
