Default Brodeur to have surgery

New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur will undergo surgery Thursday morning to repair the distal bicep in his left elbow, a tendon that Brodeur said completely tore off the bone of the elbow.

Devils General Manager/CEO/President Lou Lamoriello told reporters Tuesday afternoon that the veteran goalie would miss the next 3-4 months, but should return completely healthy for the end of the regular season.

Every once in a while a backup goalie really has a chanc to prove himself. This is it for Weekes. With Brodeur out for so long, Kevin has a chance to make or break this team. He has a legitimate chamce to establish himself with good play. Or he could faulter start losing and this team will have to quickly look for help. Either way this is his spotlight and big chance. The focus an attention is on him.
