The canadians are born
Dec 4, 1909
The Montreal Canadians were born after a meeting with the National Hockey Association in Montreal's Windsor Hotel. Two businessmen J. Ambrose O'Brien and Thomas C. Hare--the latter putting up the $1000 entry fee and the $5000 to guarantee salaries were the men behind the inaugural league team. The Canadians are the oldest continuously operated pro hockey team in the world.
