Rumors in the air
A rumour or rumor (see spelling differences), is often viewed as "an unverified account or explanation of events circulating from person to person and pertaining to an object, event, or issue in public concern."
And guess what we have plenty in the air !!
ESPN. COM: Pierre Lebrun reports the following:
- While ten-eleven teams are believed interested in Mats Sundin he's likely to narrow that list down to three or four clubs by month's end. Among the interested clubs are the Tampa Bay Lightning but Lebrun feels they'll have to win some more games under Rick Tocchet for Sundin to take them seriously. Lebrun also feel the Vancouver Canucks remain "the heavyweights" as they have the best offer (two years, $20 million) and the cap space to take him on.
Vancans thoughts: I could not see Sundin seriously considering Tampa. The team is in turmoil, ans just aren't winning. That can't be too enticing for Sundin. Vancouver, sure great offer $10 mil a year for 2 years. Does he wan tot go for a team min the running for the cup??? New Jersey out, maybe NY Rangers.....
Hockeybuzz .com: Eklund reports that:
- Sources tell me that tomorrow could be the day to look to when it comes to Brian Burke and the Maple Leafs. Many have speculated that Thursday will be the day...While other teams are rumoured to be possible destinations, all signs point very strongly to Toronto.
Vancans thoughts: This rumor has obviously been a hot topic lately and it's obvious Toronto wants Burke, and Burke wants Toronto. Maybe the answer isn't too far away with Cliff Fletcher doing a fantastic job as interim. Do they need Burke? If Burke does come, wonder if he'll bring Sundin with him?

The Ottawa Senators appear to be intensifying their pursuit of defenceman Mattias Ohuld. Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis and assistant Lawrence Gilman were on the list of scouts for last night's Senators-Rangers game at Madison Square Garden and GM Bryan Murray hasn't made any secret of the fact he's looking for a puck-moving defenceman.
While the Gillis' Canucks were playing across town on Long Island, it's believed contract talks with Ohlund have been fruitless and if they continue to go nowhere, he might be asked to waive his no-movement clause to accept a deal elsewhere. It's believed the Senators are willing to move winger Antoine Vermette. The Canucks are far from their only potential trading partner.
Murray has been working the phones vigorously and Minnesota Wild GM Doug Risebrough was also in attendance. There were also two scouts from Columbus and Los Angeles among the eight teams that were represented.
Vancans thoughts: There's been a lot of talk abot this also. |But the key word here is no trade clause. They could ask him to waive it, but I think he'll stick it out in Van.I do think that Ottawa would be the only team that he would consider, no great deal though, he won't be going anywhere.

Only Carolina Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford knows whether Peter Laviolette saved his job with Sunday's 3-2 comeback, shootout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
But this much is certain: Laviolette's seat has been pretty hot lately after a three-game losing streak in which the Hurricanes were outscored 13-5.
Vancan s thoughts: I can say this much. He is skating on some pretty thin ice right now. After riding this 3 game losing streak, he better put some more wins together quickly.
